Tatiana Bilbao Estudio to Design New Residential Development in Ecuador

Tatiana Bilbao Estudio, a Mexican company, has revealed Botaniqo in Quito (Ecuador). The project covers more than 12,000 km2 and will create a new transportation hub that will serve over 60,000 people daily.

According to the Ecuadorian firm, Botaniqo’s layouts encourage connection through many shared spaces. Bilbao designed a series interconnected modules that are interspersed with open-and closed spaces (public and private), which create a variety of shapes for each resident. The nine towers, which total 277 units each, have communal, flora-filled terraces at the buildings’ midpoints. The project’s footprint at ground level takes up only 35% of the available space. This creates extensive communal green spaces and recreational areas.

According to Bilbao in a press release,

Architecture must be a platform that allows each person to create their own existence.

The design team stated that “each tree will be preserved, transplanted, and then relocated within this project, keeping the endemic vegetation in the area.” The firms also stated that more than half of the materials used in this project would be local, which will reduce the carbon footprint.

Botaniqo will include a private pool and paddle tennis as well as a gym, spa, pet area, gaming area, meeting rooms, event space, and a multifunctional area.
